Mobiel.nl is the place where you can make a smart choice for your new phone, subscription with a smartphone, SIM-only subscription, and internet, TV & home phone service.
In 2000, three students started a company selling SIM-only subscriptions under the name ‘Studentmobiel.’ The entrepreneurs worked hard to expand their success. Mobile subscriptions were sold in combination with televisions, home cinema sets, laptops, and even mountain bikes, which turned out to be a great success. In early 2016, the company took a significant turn: Studentmobiel changed its name to Mobiel.nl, aiming to clarify that anyone, not just students, could subscribe to a mobile plan.
The main source of income for Mobiel.nl is mobile subscriptions (+ device) and/or SIM-only plans. In the past, internet, TV, and telephone subscriptions were also sold, but the configuration page was outdated and needed updating in line with the current style. The goal is to apply the current design and style of Mobiel.nl to ‘Internet, TV, and Phone services’ and achieve 10% of the market share by the end of the year compared to Prisewise, Independer, and other comparison sites.
The goal was to implement the current design and style of Mobiel.nl on ‘Internet, TV, and Phone services.’ I delved into Mobiel.nl’s structure and layout and studied the design system to identify reusable elements. Extensive research was conducted among competitors and customers to understand their preferences. This, in collaboration with the Product Owner and with the assistance of a Junior UX Designer, led to creating layouts and prototypes that were eventually finalized and shared with the development team to make them operational.
As a Senior UX Designer, I was responsible for the UX design of ‘Internet, TV, and Phone services’ for Mobiel.nl, among other parts of Mobiel.nl:
- Supporting the development team in website design.
- Timely delivery and elaboration of prototypes into final products.
- Collaborating with a Junior UX Designer, Product Owner, and Development.
- Ensuring the consistency of the (online) brand identity.
- Devising customer flows from various perspectives to help visitors achieve their goals on our digital channels.
- Being part of the front-end/scrum team for development projects.
- Executing designs within a multidisciplinary team.
